Prayer Focus: Destiny Christian Fellowship

IMG_6813.PNG

Each week, the Leadership Council for Northern California, Northern Nevada, Guam and Hawaii focuses some of their prayer time on one of the churches within our district. We believe that prayer is powerful and effective, and so we invite you to join with us before our Lord on behalf of our brothers and sisters.

The Destiny Story

On September 23, 2010, Rev. Paul Sheppard and his wife Meredith held a meeting with 35 people who had expressed interest in helping them plant a new church in the Bay Area. This meeting took place at the Menlo Park, CA residence of Lucius and Maude Barker.

Several weeks later, using only the Internet and word of mouth advertising, Destiny Christian Fellowship held its inaugural services on Oct. 24, 2010 at the Santa Clara Marriott in Santa Clara, CA. Hundreds of people were in attendance that day as Pastor and Lady Sheppard pledged to continue fulfilling the vision that brought them to northern CA in 1989 – winning unchurched and unbelieving people to Jesus, teaching them God’s Word, and helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Over the next 44 months, Destiny held Sunday worship services in five different cities – Fremont, Newark, Santa Clara, Santa Mateo, and Hayward.
During that time, their members and friends gave $2,250,000 in a capital campaign we entitled “Please Hand Me a Brick!” Many members and friends gave multiple “bricks” ($1,000 = one brick). Their generosity enabled Destiny to lease and build out a 37,000+ sq. ft. worship center at 42326 Albrae Street in Fremont CA.

In 2015, DCF obtained the funding needed to purchase both the worship center and the adjacent building (formerly a server hosting center). As a result, they’re now raising funds to convert a 15,000+ sq. ft. facility into the DESTINY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP KINGDOM LIFE CENTER.

The KINGDOM LIFE CENTER will include:

  • Counseling offices to be used by approved Christian therapists, marriage/family counselors, etc.

  • Junior high/Senior high lounge, meeting, and games area

  • Basketball half-court

  • Fitness area (treadmill, free weights, aerobics, etc.)

  • Performance area (ideal for spoken word and other small group events)

  • Audio and video recording studios

  • Multipurpose space used for: Special needs students during worship services; senior activities; etc.

Specific Direction:

  • Pastor Paul Sheppard and the Destiny Christian Fellowship team would love for you to join them in praying for the financial support needed above their regular tithes and offerings to bring the KINGDOM LIFE CENTER into reality.
